October 2016: Mark Carr retirement: After 46 years of loyal service to our company, Mark Carr has retired from his position of Rental Manager. Mark was originally hired by Hasper Equipment in February of 1970 and has been a Cloverdale employee since Cloverdale acquired Hasper Equipment in 1980. A retirement party was held in December to celebrate Mark's career and retirement. We are extremely grateful for his many years of dedicated service to our company and wish him well.
April 2015: Pankowski joins Cloverdale Equipment as Sales Manager: With an extensive background in service and sales of construction equipment in the greater Detroit market, Jerry Pankowski has been hired to lead our sales team. Welcome aboard, Jerry!
April 2015: Cloverdale breaks ground on new building in Berea, Ohio. Construction has begun on our new 15,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility in greater-Cleveland. Project to be completed in late 2015.
December 2014: Townsend added as Product Support Sales Representative: In an effort to better serve our clients, Warren Townsend has joined our aftermarket sales team. Formerly our Rental Manager at the G.M. Fairfax (Kansas) assembly project, he now has outside sales responsible for parts and service for rough terrain cranes, boom trucks, telehandlers and forklifts at our Oak Park branch. He joins Steve Wozniak, who now has outside sales responsibility for parts and service for aerial work platforms, Broderson industrial cranes and portable air compressors, as well as providing operator training for telehandlers and aerial work platforms. July 2014: Cloverdale adds Broderson IC400-3A 25 ton crane to rental fleet: Equipped with a five-section 65' full power boom and 20' offset jib, it is one of the largest industrial cranes available on the market. The IC400-3A features a Cummins QSB4.5 diesel engine, fully enclosed cab with heat and A/C, four wheel drive, four wheel steer, and dual axis joystick controls. PAT rated capacity limiter system (RCL) and anti-two-block system. Available for rental or purchase.
July 2014: Cloverdale adds Genie SX-180 boom lift to rental fleet: With a maximum working height of 186' and maximum horizontal reach of 80', the SX-180 is one of the largest self-propelled straight boom lifts available. With an overall width of 8'2" and operating weight of 55,400 lbs, it can be transported without an oversized load permit. The SX-180 features a 10' 60 degree rotating jib to maximize work envelope flexibility and additional outreach at elevation. Four wheel drive, four wheel steer, foam filled tires, hydraulic oil cooler and on-board 7500 watt generator. Available for rental or purchase.
April 2014: Cloverdale adds Genie GTH1544 telehandler to rental fleet: With a maximum lifting capacity of 15,000 lbs and a maximum lift height of 44 ft, the GTH1544 is the highest capacity telehandler ever offered by Cloverdale. Equipped with full time planetary four wheel drive, three steering modes, hydrostatic transmission, and an enclosed cab. Available for rental or purchase.
June 2013: Cloverdale enters Ohio market: To better serve our customers throughout the upper midwest, we have opened a new branch in Berea, Ohio (greater Cleveland). Industry veteran Roger Mahakian serves as Branch Manager. Jeff Brown is Service Manager, and John Heninger and Jay Kurz are our outside sales reps.
April 2013: Cloverdale enters compact crawler boom market: With the addition of a JLG Model X550AJ and JLG Model X700AJ, Cloverdale expands rental fleet to better serve our aerial lift customers. The X550AJ has a working height of 61' and and overall width of only 31"; the X700AJ has a working height of 76' and an overall width of 39". Both are equipped with non-marking rubber tracks and are lithium ion powered.

2013: Cloverdale celebrates 50th Anniversary. Cloverdale Equipment is celebrating it's 50 year anniversary in 2013. Founded on June 24, 1963 by Ben C. Maibach Jr, Cloverdale has been privately held, employee owned, and family controlled for three generations. Today, Cloverdale is run by Ben's grandson, Todd Moilanen, and a team of experienced, dedicated professionals.
November 2012: Faur promoted to Rental Manager. We are pleased to announce that Jayne Faur has been promoted to Rental Manager at our Oak Park branch. Congratulations, Jayne!
November 2012: Salkowski passes away. After a long battle with leukemia, Dick Salkowki passed away on November 14, 2012. Dick ran our Rental Department, yard and dispatched trucking for decades, and was employed at Cloverdale for forty years. He will be missed.
September 2012: Harla and Holt added to Cloverdale's Rental Department. Brad Harla and Andrew Holt are hired as Rental Coordinators. Both Brad and Andrew have extensive equipment rental experience in the metro-Detroit market. Welcome aboard, Brad and Andrew!
June 2012: VanSweden and Sorenson promoted. We are pleased to announce two promotions at our Muskegon branch. After serving as Sales Manager and Territory Manager for many years, Ed VanSweden is promoted to Vice-President/General Manager. Ed has extensive industry experience at all levels of construction equipment distribution and rental in the west Michigan market. In addition, Scott Sorenson is promoted to Service Manager after serving as a senior field and shop technician since he was hired in 2003. Congratulations, Ed and Scott!
April 2012: Former President of Cloverdale passes away. Thomas A. Moilanen, Cloverdale's Vice-President/General Manager from 1971 to 1978, President from 1978 until 2001 and a former co-owner, died on April 13, 2012 at age 67 after a long battle with renal cell carcinoma. Tom ran Cloverdale for thirty years, through some very challenging times and was instrumental in establishing our company. He transitioned Cloverdale from a one location, purely rental firm to a multi-location rental and distribution company through hard work and sheer determination. A man of strong conviction, he was not always easy to work with or for, but he always gave 110%, did the best he could with what he had to work with, and meant well.
January 2012: Second shift reinstated. In an effort to better serve our rental and service customers, we have reinstated a second shift in our service department at our Oak Park branch. We now have service technicians available from 7:00 AM until midnight, Monday through Friday. This will allow us to complete service work on our rental fleet and customer owned equipment on an even more timely basis.
September 2011: Cloverdale's Founder and Chairman passes away. Benjamin C. Maibach, Jr., Cloverdale's Founder, President from 1963 to 1978, and Chairman of the Board from 1963 to 2011, died on September 24, 2011, at age 91. Ben Jr. was a prominent fixture in the Detroit business community. A true humanitarian and community leader, he served on over 20 business, professional association and community service boards of directors.
July 2011: Cloverdale adds JLG Model 1500SJ Ultra boom lift to rental fleet. With a maximum working height of 156', the 1500SJ is the largest self-propelled telescopic straight boom lift available. With an overall width of 8' 2" and operating weight of 47,920 lbs, it that can be transported without an oversized load permit. The 1500SJ features a telescoping jib for greater work envelope flexibility and additional outreach at elevation. Constructed of high strength 100,000 psi steel. Dual 1,000/500 lb capacity. June 2011: Cloverdale adds National Model NBT45 45 ton boom truck to rental fleet. Equipped with a four-section 127' full power boom and 55' two-section jib, it is the largest boom truck that can be transported without permits in the State of Michigan. The NBT45 features a fully enclosed swing cab and outriggers that can be positioned at 0%, 50% and 100%. Load moment indicator (LMI) and anti-two-block system. Mounted on an International 7600 tandem axle chassis with steerable pusher and tag axles, it is powered by a Navistar 475 hp diesel with a ten speed manual transmission. April 2011: Wells retires, Walter promoted to Shop Foreman. After serving as shop foreman at our Oak Park branch since 2004, Bill Wells retires. An industry veteran and consumate professional, Bill will be missed. Chris Walter, a Cloverdale employee since 1993 and formerly a field technician, is promoted to shop foreman. December 2010: Noffke retires; Unger joins Cloverdale Equipment of West Michigan. After representing our company as an outside sales rep for twelve years, Jim Noffke retires. Mark Unger is hired, and now has outside sales responsibility for promoting rentals, sales, parts and service for our complete line of products out of our Muskegon branch. Mark is well established in the equipment rental business, as he has fourteen years of industry experience in the west Michigan market. Congratulations to both Jim and Mark!
